Description
Tasting Note
Our Pinot Gris displays ripe pear, citrus and floral notes. It’s rich and full flavoured, though ultimately dry and well balanced with refreshing acidity and a long finish.
Vineyard
The fruit was sourced from a single, premium, dry-grown, vineyard in the Hilltops region and harvested in late February at 12.5 be.
Winemaking
After picking, the fruit was gently pressed to stainless steel vats and fermented at cool temperatures – capturing all the ripe, round fruit characters, aromatics and fresh acidity.
Cellaring
This delightful wine will drink beautifully over the next 3-5 years.
Food Match
An ideal match for full flavoured Asian foods, seafood and poultry dishes.
Awards & Reviews
93/100 “From the dry-grown 50-year-old Freeman vineyard in Hilltops. Immediate impressions of gris from first swills. Nashi pear, spiced and steeped slowly in cardamom, tender and glossy. Delicate white florals, a little rosewater, its subtly blush hue a mirror of these aromas. Rich with weight, laden with spice and just a suggestion of herbal influence in sage and saltbush. A lovely wine.” Katrina Butler, Halliday Wine Companion
93/100 “Beautifully fruited and elegantly fragrant, the bouquet shows green rockmelon, Asian pear, Gala apple, and subtle spice aromas. It’s juicy and finely textured in the mouth, offering bright fruit flavours with well-pitched acidity, finishing lingering and refreshing. At its best: now to 2029.” Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
