Description
Sourced from one of Tumbarumba’s finest vineyards nestled in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains in NSW, at an elevation between 500-650m.
Tasting Note
Our Tumbarumba Chardonnay displays the classic cool climate citrus and melon intensity of the region, with subtle smoky oak in support. A full flavoured wine with a long, complex finish.
Vineyard
The fruit was sourced from Tumbarumba, Coppabella Vineyard. The vines are all V1 clone. Fruit was hand-picked in mid-March, at around 13.5 be.
Winemaking
After picking, 70% of the fruit was gently pressed to stainless steel vats and cool fermented. The balance was barrel fermented in a mixture of new and 1-3 year old French oak barriques and lees stirred weekly. 30% of the wine went through malolactic fermentation.
Cellaring
Though drinking beautifully now, this fine wine will gain further complexity and interest over the next 2-3 years.
Food Match
This elegant wine is an ideal match for shellfish, poultry, and soft creamy cheeses.
Awards and Reviews
“Beautifully fruited and elegantly expressed, the wine shows apricot, fig, nougat and oatmeal characters on the nose with a hint of vibrant lemon zest. It’s equally attractive on the palate, delivering lovely weight and rounded mouthfeel, brilliantly supported by bright acidity, finishing long and succulent. At its best: now to 2025.” 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
“The bouquet has citrus aromas along with some tropical fruit notes, sweet vanillin oak is evident making this a complex nose. The palate has lifted citrus fruit with grapefruit acid that is balanced by a creamy luscious mouthfeel and clean finish with good length. 90/100″ Stephen Read, Wine Matrix
