Description
Sourced from the NSW Hilltops region, at an elevation of around 600m.
Tasting Note
El Tinto, meaning “red wine” in Spanish and Portuguese, is a blend of the classic Iberian varieties Graciano (50%), Touriga (32%) and Tempranillo (18%). It has dark plush fruit, beautiful richness, great depth and a long silky finish.
Vineyard
The fruit was sourced from some of the Hilltops’ finest vineyards and was picked in late March at around 13.5be.
Winemaking
After picking, the fruit was crushed and destemmed into open top fermenters, where a warm, even fermentation took place. Once pressed, the wine was matured for 11 months in French oak barriques, approximately 15% of which were new.
Cellaring
Though drinking beautifully now, this fine wine will gain further complexity and interest over the next 10-12 years.
Food Match
A perfect pairing for smoked meats & cheeses and savoury tapas-style foods.
