Tasting Notes

Made from Tempranillo and in the image of classic vintage port, our Vintage Fortified is a bold full bodied wine, featuring dark chocolate, cherry and spice notes. Ideal after dinner with cheese, pudding, it will drink beautifully for many years to come. Once opened refrigerate and consume within two days.

Vineyard

The fruit was sourced from a highly regarded vineyard in the Hilltops. It was picked late-March with an average Baume of 13.5.

Winemaking

After picking, the fruit was crushed and destemmed into open top fermenters, where a warm, even fermentation took place. Once pressed, the wine was matured for 8 months in French oak barriques, a third of which were new. The wine was fortified to 18% alc/vol with a locally produced neutral spirit.

Cellaring

This fortified wine will age beautifully over the next 10 years.

Food Match

This delicious drop works well with rich fruit puddings, chocolate or blue cheese.
